Visit Dakota Modern! Travel Scholarships for Tribal Affiliated Organizations

Non-profit Tribal affiliated institutions/organizations within South Dakota are invited to apply for a reimbursement travel scholarship to visit the South Dakota Art Museum to view Dakota Modern: The Art of Oscar Howe and Continuum: Honoring Oscar Howe's Legacy. Funds are limited and applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The South Dakota Art Museum is always free and all are welcome! 

Purpose:
This travel reimbursement scholarship supports opportunities for Tribal-affiliated organizations to enjoy and engage with "Dakota Modern: The Art of Oscar Howe" and "Continuum: Honoring Oscar Howe's Legacy." 

Criteria/Eligibility: 
-Must be a nonprofit Tribal or Tribal-affiliated institution/organization within South Dakota
-A minimum of 8 people must participate in the Museum visit
-Provide a W9 for reimbursement
-Attend during the run of the exhibitions (June 10 to September 17, 2023) 

Application Timeline:
Please apply at least two weeks prior to the date you want to visit -- one month is recommended for optimal scheduling.

Optional: 
It is encouraged to sign up for a Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) or Guided Tour (this is not required for reimbursement).

Financial Details:
This scholarship covers mileage transportation at the state rate (see link below for rates):

The mileage reimbursement is for travel to and from the South Dakota Art Museum. 
Groups of 8-12 can qualify up to $450 ($0.51 per mile per group regardless of number of vehicles)

Groups of 13+ can qualify up to $600 ($0.68 per mile per group regardless of number of vehicles)
